Brothers and pals

Lately Markus (almost 5) and Nathan (almost 3) have been discovered snuggling eachother in the morning. Tonight I just went and looked at them and they were snuggling together in the bottom bunk, Nathan's. Before Nathan went to bed he said he was scared and wanted Markus to snuggle him. I told him to lay down, but apparently he woke Markus up and asked him to come to HIS bed. They looked so sweet and silly I had to take a picture!

Candy Cane Bath Salts

I was browing jar mix recipes one day and found this super cute recipe that was definitely good for the holidays! Here's the recipe:
2 bags of Epsom Salt (each is 4 lbs)
1 box Kosher Salt (about 6 cups)
1/2 teaspoon glycerin
12 drops red food coloring
12 drops pepperment essential oils
12 12 oz jelly jars

The only ingredient I didn't find at walmart was the last one, which I bought on ebay for about $2.50.

In one bowl you mix 1 bag Epsom Salt, 3 cups Kosher Salt, 1/4 teaspoon glycerin, 6 drops of red food coloring, and 6 drops peppermint essential oils. Mix it really really well until the color is even.

In the other bowl you mix 1 bag Epsom Salt, 3 cups Kosher Salt, 1/4 teaspoon glycerin, and 6 drops of peppermint essential oils.

Next, while holding your jar at an angle, layer the pink and white mixes. Then, put a circle of fabric on top of the inner lid, screw on the outer lid, and put a tag w/ the directions: Use 2-3 Tablespoons for a refreshing bath!
It was lots of fun to make this b/c me and my house smelled so nice!

more pictures

I don't have anything special to say, but thought I would at least post some recent pics that I like. First off we have ALL of my boys in footy pjs. Dorian has graduated to them b/c he falls if he wears baby footy pajamas *sigh*. Next comes Dorian checking himself out in the mirror at the gymnastics place we had the alliance christmas social at.

Dorian seems to know what the camera is for, because he always smiles for it...he just doesn't always stay still so the camera can focus!

And last but not least, my boys snuggling in bed looking at books :)

TGIF!!

I'm happy that it's Friday for many reasons. I'm thankful because Dorian has been on antibiotics for 7 days, and I now feel comfortable taking him to playgroup again. Of course, we've all got runny noses, so we'll see how well THAT goes. Drew was oncall last night and will be there for a few more hours today, and then sleep all day...and then we get to go look at the photos from our photo session a few weeks ago! I'm really excited about it because we had some family pictures taken at a beautiful location. As soon as I've got them I'll post them on here! So, the weekend is going to be nice. Only two things are definitely doing this weekend, and then catching up on a few things in the backyard (brrrr), carpet cleaning, paint touch ups....etc. We also hope to get some real firewood for our fireplace since we ran out of our store bought logs (I think they are mostly wax?) Enjoy your cool weekend everyone!

The Last Day

Today is the last day that I will have a husband....until January! Ok, not really. Drew starts SICU (Surgery Intensive Care Unit) tomorrow, and his schedule is going to be brutal. He works from 5:30am until 4:30 or 5:30pm, and then every 4th day he's on call overnight, and THEN has to round on patients in the morning, and won't be home til lunch time or later. That means he won't get to sleep for 30+ hours, and then get home in the afternoon, sleep, eat, then go to bed and start over. Doesn't that sound like fun? So, I'll have a husband home for Tuesday and Wednesday night, then won't see him until Friday afternoon when he'll be EXHAUSTED. He doesn't work Saturday or Sunday though, so that's good. Then he's on call again Monday and the cycle repeats itself.
Last December wasn't much fun either as I remember. I'm thankful Drew has Christmas Eve evening off along with Christmas Day. I'm also excited about relatives coming to see me! (possibly my sis in law? my parents for sure, possibly my sis, brother, a few aunts and uncles)

Here's to enjoying the last day of normalcy for a while!
